Help Center

Buddyhere is meant to be easy to use, but starting on a new platform can still raise questions. Whether you are here as a Mentee looking for support, a Buddy ready to help someone new, or a university interested in what we are building, this page is here to make things clearer.

The first step is simple: create an account, verify your email address, and complete your profile. Once that is done, you can start exploring the platform and connecting with other users.

For Mentees

If you join Buddyhere as a Mentee, the platform is there to help you find someone who already knows the local university environment and can make things feel less unfamiliar.

Starting university in a new place often means dealing with a lot at once. Some questions are practical, some are social, and some are just hard to ask in formal settings. Buddyhere gives you a way to connect with another student who may understand that situation from experience.

A complete profile helps with that. When you share who you are, your university context, and a bit about what kind of support you are looking for, it becomes easier to find a connection that feels useful and natural.

For Buddies

If you join as a Buddy, your role is to offer support in a way that is honest, respectful, and realistic.

You are not expected to have every answer. What matters more is being approachable, clear, and willing to share what you know. Sometimes that means answering practical questions. Sometimes it means helping someone feel less alone in a place that still feels new.

Your profile should reflect that. A clear and accurate profile helps Mentees understand who you are and whether you may be the right person to connect with.

For universities

Buddyhere is also growing as a platform that may be useful for universities, international offices, and coordinators of buddy or mentoring programmes.

We know that student support often depends on people who are already doing a lot. Buddyhere is being developed with that in mind. The aim is to make peer connection easier to organise, easier to access, and easier to grow over time.

If you are reaching out on behalf of a university and would like to learn more, you can contact us at info@buddyhere.de.

Contact Support

If something on the platform is unclear, or if you are having trouble with your account, email verification, or profile setup, you can contact us directly at help@buddyhere.de.

If you write to us, it helps to include the email address linked to your account and a short description of the issue. Screenshots are useful when they help explain what happened.

If another user behaves in a way that feels inappropriate, discriminatory, abusive, or unsafe, stop contact right away and contact your University Coordinator or us directly at help@buddyhere.de. You can cancel a match at any time. Buddyhere should be a place where people can connect without feeling pressured, disrespected, or unwelcome.

Deleting your account

You can ask us to delete your account at any time. Account deletion is carried out manually by our team, within the period set out in our Terms of Service.

To request deletion, email help@buddyhere.de from the address linked to your account and tell us that you want your account deleted. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on the request.

Some information may be kept after your account is deleted where we are required or permitted to keep it, for example in connection with an open safety report, a legal obligation, or a legal claim. The applicable retention periods are described in our Privacy Policy.
